Dehydration and Moods

May 10, 2014 at 16:34

By the time we are thirsty the body is already in a dehydrated state and the negative effects are in play. Older people may even have lost the thirst mechanism. Many people eat instead of drinking water.

15 million Americans are clinically depressed, it may because they don't drink enough water.

Dehydration of the body leads to a multitude of serious illnesses and degnenerative conditions. Your body is 75 percent water. However, your brain tissue is 85 percent water. And if you don't supply your body and brain with enough pure water on a daily basis, you're going to get sick.

Depression is a common result of a dehydrated brain.

Even the slightest level of dehydration has physical effects. In an experiment the following results were noticed.

For women:

For Men:

The research findings are published in The Journal of Nutrition.

Soft drinks, coffee, tea, commerical juice, beer, wine, energy drinks are not water, they all dehydrate. Drink 355ml (12 oz) of beer and our body is going to need 1064ml (36 ounces) of pure water to process the toxins in that beer. And if you don't give your body that water, it will take water from your bones, muscles, organs -- and that reservoir above your neck, your brain. One can of coke takes 39 glasses of alkalized water to rebalance the pH levels. Alcohol-induced dehydration causes hangovers.

Depression might well be looked at as a chronic hangover.

Dehydration affects all people, and staying properly hydrated is just as important for those who work all day at a computer as it is for marathon runners, who can lose up to 8 percent of their body weight as water when they compete.? ?Even mild dehydration that can occur during the course of our ordinary daily activities can degrade how we are feeling ? especially for women, who appear to be more susceptible to the adverse effects of low levels of dehydration than men,? says Harris Lieberman, Dehydration can lead to lack of motivation and daily activities. Drinking eight (8 ounce) 237 ml of water , or 2 litres per day. Heavy exercises may require more. People can check their hydration status by monitoring the color of their urine or using the hydration correction from Motivational Kinesiology. Urine should be a very pale yellow in individuals who are properly hydrated. Urine that is dark yellow or tan in color indicates greater dehydration. Proper hydration is particularly important for high-risk groups, such as the elderly, people with diabetes, and children.

To quote from YOUR BODY'S MANY CRIES FOR WATER, by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj, M.D.,:

"Pathology that is seen to be associated with 'social stresses' -- fear, anxiety, insecurity, persistent emotional and matrimonial problems -- and the establishment of depression are the results of water deficiency to the point that the water requirement of brain tissue is affected. The brain uses electrical energy that is generated by the water drive of the energy-generating pumps. With dehydration, the level of energy generation in the brain is decreased. Many functions of the brain that depend on this type of energy become inefficient. We recognize this inadequacy of function, and call it depression."

Chronic dehydration and Depression are linked, it is a symptom of fluid volume and electrolyte imbalance (intercellular dehydration). Because dehydration is physically discernible, it can be considered one of the signs of clinical depression.

When we do not have enough fluids inside our cells, we have health problems. Even if there is enough water around the cells, we need the precious fluid inside our cells. Even our nervous system is made up of cells.

The Signs and Symptoms of Depression

Dr Batmanghelidj, MD, in his writings uses the analogy of grass that lacks water. He likened the dying grass to the early stages of depression,it is much like the dying grass that lacks water.

We have two oceans of water within us, inside and one outside our cells. When we drink water, we can quickly replenish the water outside the cells. We cannot quickly rehydrate the whole body without something to encourage the transport of the water into the cells. Unprocessed sea salt does just that. It is the electrolyte that enables the water to transport to the cells. The Motivational Kinesiology correction can also assist to identify and begin the rehydration procedure.

Without adequate water inside our brain cells, our brain cannot do all the complicated functions that it accomplishes on a daily basis. It will keep areas the body considers important functioning and shut down area of lesser importance.

Simply drinking water can heal your life.
